Overview

The Sr. Principal Lead, Building Systems is an integral role within the Chick-fil-A Design Team and is responsible for strategy, design, program management, and strategic leadership for building systems such as mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire & life safety, information technology, POS, security, and energy strategy.   This role will work directly with Design staff and others in Restaurant Development and DTT to integrate operational strategies, functionality and sustainable design principles into our portfolio of new and existing restaurants. This role will also work with our Sustainability team to help meet the overall sustainability goals of the business.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, select, lead, and develop Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Technology consultants to design and consult to these systems of the Restaurant.
  • Influence, lead, and ensure building systems strategy discussions are achieved for all restaurant types.
  • Participate and facilitate building systems topics in Design Change Management meetings.
  • Work cross-functionally to understand, prototype, and validate business needs for approved initiatives.
  • Develop program and project charters, establish budgets, identify resources, and execute agreements with consultants, contractors, and partners.
  • Fully activate and leverage design process to provide solutions that align priorities across the business.
  • Discover, understand, and optimize our restaurant design resulting in a reduced and more acceptable capital investment ratio for our building systems design.
  • Prepare, communicate, and educate Design and Restaurant Development teams, Field Operations, and other key stakeholders on standards & guidelines for Building Systems
  • Facilitate stakeholder meetings to ensure building systems design principles and specifications are achieved.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Facilities, Building Operations, or Construction Management)
  • 10+ years’ experience in Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Restaurant Systems Operations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.  Must have the ability to quickly establish and maintain solid relationships internally and externally with our consulting engineers & partners.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency with Microsoft Office suite packages
  • Proven track record of success in managing projects, initiatives, and resources
  • Thorough knowledge of building MEP, HVAC, lighting, energy management, building control systems, and power distribution systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write and deliver clear and effective technical recommendations to a non-technical business.
  • Familiarity with building codes and design practices as it relates to systems, building envelope, roofs, and structural components.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with kitchen ventilation and systems preferred.
