  • Overview

    The Food Safety Consultant provides specialty consulting services to Restaurant Operators. They partner with Chick-fil-A Owner/Operators on intervention strategies to address food safety concerns and promote a culture of food safety. 

    Responsibilities

    • Identify, diagnose, and resolve Restaurant level food safety risks
    • Assist Owner/Operators in the resolution of the major Health Department risk factors and compliance with the FDA Food Code
    • Partner with Business Consultants as an expert liaison in the event of potential food safety situations that may require Restaurant closure
    • Establish the path and criteria to re-open a Restaurant that undergoes a closure for food safety-related reasons
    • Aid restaurants in defining short- and long-term food safety culture wins
    • Serve as the technical expert on prioritization, energy focus, and resources to strengthen food safety operations and culture
    • Influence Restaurant-level Food Safety needs to the Food Safety Solutions, Systems, and Culture Teams and the broader organization.
    • Review Restaurant Food Safety challenges to identify potential root causes and determine the most appropriate consulting support to determine steps toward solutions
    • Manage the internal relationships with other departments to influence improved food safety systems across the organization
    • Works with wide latitude independently to make decisions and take action in all situations

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in a science such as: Food Science, Biochemistry, Engineering, Environmental Health Science, Chemistry, Biology or extensive restaurant experience in a food safety role
    • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in food safety (Restaurant experience preferred)
    • Ability to work in a technical area (be detail orientated) as well as with customers and in supplier environments
    • Leadership skills and ability to influence change in a complex environment
    • Willingness to travel (40-60%)

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Advanced degree in business (MBA)
    • CP-FS certification 
    • Spanish speaking proficiency: conversational
