Chick-fil-A is investing in Automation, Analytics and Data Literacy in all areas of the business.  The Advanced Analytics & Automation team in DTT exists to enable Embedded Intelligence across the enterprise by equipping Operators and Staff to make informed decisions and achieve optimal outcomes.   We enable and deliver data, analytics, and AI/automation capabilities and outcomes through empowering foundational capabilities, continuing to maximize the value of complex data products, and accelerating implementation and adoption advanced analytics and AI/automation products.

 

As a Sr. Principal Team Leader at Chick-fil-A, you will oversee a team of advanced analytics product leaders responsible for designing technical strategy, direction, and design of cross-functional advanced analytics solutions that support Chick-fil-A’s most complex outcomes. This role will be expected to be one of the most pre-eminent thought leaders on Data Science at Chick-fil-A, while leading a team on Data Science product delivery. You must influence up and laterally to leaders in approachable ways, while also leading downward to the team with strong technical understanding, ensuring that all product delivery adheres to the Digital Delivery Framework and Data Science governance norms.   As the advanced analytics products team leader, you understand the business-critical outcomes, including, but not limited to, Restaurant Capacity Simulation, Restaurant forecasting, and Supply Chain Forecasting.  This role directs the data scientists as they oversee the design and prioritization of efficient and scalable solutions in partnership with Data & Analytics Engineering, AI Engineering, DTT Enterprise Architecture, Operator Technology Solutions, and mature Supply Chain and FIT analytics teams.   
 
As a people leader, this role will serve on the Operator-aligned Data, Analytics, and Automation team identifying resource and operational challenges, and designing plans and processes to address those challenges, including authority to make personnel decisions.  This role will also typically assist with or lead the selection and oversight of outside partners and professionals to effectively deliver outcomes and results.  This body of work is technically complex, requiring advanced knowledge in understanding desired analytic and automation outcomes, complex data and analytics ecosystems, efficient tool integration, and compute architecture that may span multiple environments.

Responsibilities

  • Align business and DTT sub-department stakeholders to translate business logic into scalable data and advanced analytics products on complex projects.
  • Cast vision and strategy for product teams, based on stakeholder feedback, and manage data and advanced analytics product roadmaps.
  • Coordinate the delivery of data and advanced analytics products, ensuring they are high quality, consumable, and meet functional requirements.
  • Partner with business stakeholders, Enterprise Architecture, Data & Analytics Engineering, and AI Engineering to develop enterprise product roadmaps.
  • Ensure data consistency, integration, and availability through quality review and documentation.
  • Implement data governance and master data management principles across the product lifecycle.
  • Develop best practices for data products and advise on their integration into analytical and operational practices.
  • Act as a subject-matter expert on data and analytics product issues, proactively communicating issues and resolutions.
  • Drive complex projects to success and enable others to own the impact.
  • First adopters and pioneers of enterprise data, analytics, and AI/automation capabilities to maximize outcomes.
  • Identify capability gaps and opportunities, providing feedback for future capability development.
  • Participate in a cross-functional guild to ensure consistency and ideal technology utilization across embedded intelligence teams.
  • Provide leadership that blends understanding of data sources, engineering capabilities, and advanced analytics opportunities to maximize product value.
  • Communicate clear team priorities and goals aligned with overall analytics and business strategy.
  • Stay current with industry trends and vendor product offerings, continuously learning and introducing new technologies.
  • Exercise technical judgment and influence in working with large, cross-functional teams.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with the broader DTT engineering community and business partners.
  • Promote data literacy by serving as a data translator and providing consultation and education.
  • Lead, develop, and engage direct reports, modeling core values and guiding principles.
  • Ensure workforce engagement, recognition, development, and diversity.
  • Hold direct reports accountable for achieving team goals and objectives, providing coaching and mentoring.
  • Build external alliances with industry experts.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in MIS, Decision Sciences, Engineering, Business Analytics, Computer Science or other similar fields or comparable work experience
  • 7+ years of experience
  • Has 8+ years experience with AWS or comparable cloud services analytics stack.
  • Able to understand and/or apply machine learning and advanced analytics concepts to solve business problems
  • Experience with leveraging big data to achieve business outcomes 
  • Able to translate complex problems and solutions effectively between business and engineering audiences
  • Experience managing technical products and/or programs
  • Ability to think strategically about business and technical challenges in an enterprise environment. 
  • Has the skill to partner with cross-functional teams using strong written and verbal communication
  • Has the skill to continually prioritize and influence across multiple audiences
  • Keen eye for system thinking and process design, especially with respect to scalability and automation
  • Leadership and innovation around Data and Analytics.
  • General SDLC (System Development Lifecycle) experience 
  • Experience with the agile development methodology.
  • Strong understanding of data management concepts
  • Experience in data architecture and design, for both structured and unstructured data; data modeling, architecture and delivering highly scalable and flexible, cost-effective, cloud-based enterprise analytics solutions. 
  • Deep database knowledge and proficient with SQL
  • Proficiency with Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure
