Overview

The primary responsibilities for this role will include oversight of all quality and food safety activities related to operations at the Supply Chain Development Center. The individual in this role will apply comprehensive knowledge of food safety and quality to the creation and revision of quality and food safety programs. They will act as the quality and safety liason between cross functional teams and teams at the Supply Chain Development Center. The individual in this role will also work within the Chick-fil-A Innovation Process to pursue new ideas and partner with the SCDC team to develop new concepts.


The person in this role will be responsible for understanding Chick-fil-A’s safety and quality standards for applicable food and packaging items and will collaborate with internal partners & suppliers to ensure food safety and quality requirements are met.

Responsibilities

  • Apply comprehensive knowledge of food safety and quality to the creation of quality and food safety programs for operations at the Supply Chain Development Center (SCDC)
  • Act as quality and safety liason between cross functional teams and teams at the Supply Chain Development Center
  • Develop new food safety programs in support of new concepts being explored, following the innovation process phases of Plan-Understand-Imagine-Prototype-Validate-Launch and the associated progressive levels of fidelity
  • Regularly review and recommend changes to existing quality and safety programs and processes
  • Provide feedback on third party contracted services (production labor, cleaning and sanitation, etc)
  • Manage relationship with third party laboratory that will conduct routine environmental and product testing, including budgetary considerations for testing
  • Influence other teams as it relates to executing quality and safety practices with excellence
  • Conduct investigations on improvement projects (e.g. holds, customer complaints) to identify root causes, and identify corrective actions and monitor for effectiveness
  • Execute and/or support execution of required checks according to QMS (Quality Monitoring Scheme)
  • Execute activities and initiatives in support of new product development at SCDC
  • Perform verification on finished goods documentation to ensure that each finished goods lot meets product/process release criteria
  • Conduct training of team members to ensure process checks are accurate and timely as stated in QMS
  • Hold "out of specification" product
  • Ensure compliance related to instruments calibration within facility
  • Execute GMPs throughout the facility and follow food safety rules and procedures
  • Make revisions to Food Safety Plan and Procedures
  • Assist in Document Control System
  • Support Management of Change process
  • Support tracking/trending of Behavior Based Quality programs
  • Organize records and files, summarize data, and prepare and interpret reports used by management
  • Ensure compliance to procedures and work instructions
  • Ensure correct recording of quality checks, including storage and retrieval of records by QA technicians
  • Support Production team in attaining applicable quality standards (QMS, GMP, Manufacturing instructions, etc.)
  • Execute internal quality & food safety audits
  • Supports continuous improvement of Quality Metrics/KPIs
  • Serve as main contact point for authority visits
  • Lead designated QA contractors on accuracy and effectiveness of work, approve timecards, PTO and schedules
  • Perform material and packaging inspections, monitoring of in-process inspections and finished product documentation review
  • Maintain logs and data records associated with job function (e.g. non-conforming materials, corrective action log, hold logs, net content files, traceability etc.)
  • Support the compliance to FSQ requirements while supporting continuous improvement
  • Monitors day to day activities of designated QA contractors

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in food science, microbiology, chemistry, or other related field preferred
  • 3+ yrs in Quality and/or Safety field, manufacturing QA experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement
  • Knowledge of innovation processes, product and process development
  • Comfortability in environments and working on projects that include uncertainty
  • Excitement around pursuing new projects, exploring new ideas, and developing concepts at an early stage
  • Good verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Must be able to handle multiple assignments
  • Must be precise and accurate, well-organized worker
  • Must be able to perform in a demanding, fast-paced environment
  • Good mathematical (basic statistical skills highly desirable), problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Proficiency with computer systems, personal computers, spreadsheet software (Microsoft Office, etc.) and mainframe system with custom applications preferred
  • PCQI (Preventative Control Qualified Individual) required
  • Basic SQF training preferred
