Overview

The International Market Strategy & Strategic Insights Sr. Principal Program Lead is accountable for our market deployment strategy in all international markets, including Canada, Europe, Asia, Puerto Rico, and other U.S. territories.  This individual provides thought leadership as to where we build Restaurants across the globe and projects the return on investment for each Restaurant, including annual sales and Operator income forecasts.  Chick-fil-A's International Executive leadership will rely on their recommendations and accuracy of their forecasts to make strategic business decisions and Operator selections.

 

Until in-country market strategy leaders are selected, this individual will operate with autonomy and lead all global market strategy work.  As in-country market strategy leaders are selected, this individual will partner with them to transfer Chick-fil-A's historical knowledge and future learnings from both the US and existing international markets to influence our growth and investment strategy in each new country.  They will influence and help the in-country market strategy leader to translate and adapt this information to local retail, restaurant, and real estate practices/norms. 

 

This role with be responsible, along with the International Real Estate Lead and the Sr. Vice President of International Restaurant Development, to review and approve all new international locations that have not been delegated to in-country approval teams.

 

This individual will report to the Sr. Vice President - International Restaurant Development and serve on the International Restaurant Development Leadership Team.  This role also may serve periodically as the Restaurant Development representative to the International Operations Leadership Team and/or the International Budget & Planning Team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to in-country market strategy leads
  • Partner with the International Real Estate Leader to continue developing Chick-fil-A's presence in Puerto Rico and any country without a market strategy leader
  • Visit each international market annually or more frequently as needed, to gather learnings from, share best practices with, and provide guidance to, the in-country RD teams
  • Serve on the International Restaurant Development Leadership Team
  • Represent International Restaurant Development, when needed, on the International Operations Leadership Team (IOLT) and/or the International Budget & Planning Team
  • In conjunction with the International Real Estate Lead and the Sr. Vice President - International Restaurant Development, review all new international real estate deal packages for approval
  • Review, in field, and approve initial market deployment strategies in new countries/markets
  • Develop and maintain key industry relationships with landlords, developers and other retailers via ICSC, IFA, etc.
  • Develop and oversee GIS strategies and analytics

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Geography, or related field
8 years experience in a market planning/strategy role, prior restaurant experience
In-field market planning experience required; high comfort with GIS

Previous restaurant/retail market strategy, GIS, and strategic insights experience

Demonstrated interpersonal skills across multiple countries/cultures

Effective communicator (written, verbal, as an individual, and in group setting).

Strong business financial acumen

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Business, Geography, or related field
10+ years in a market planning/strategy role, prior Chick-fil-A experience, 5+ years international experience
Experience with in-country franchisees, people leadership experience, familiarity with mobile customer data
