Overview

As part of the Customer & Market Insights (CMI) team at Chick-fil-A, it is our role to value the Customer and provide meaningful insights that fuel innovation around service, product development, messaging and experience. The role of Lead Data Scientist for CMI is integral in using a limited set of machine learning and advanced modeling approaches to optimize our understanding of Customer behavior in order to optimize Customer satisfaction and sales growth over time.

 

We are looking for an individual with strong analytical and research skills, a strong understanding of statistics and statistical modeling, a basic understanding of modern machine learning and its mathematical underpinnings, while possessing moderate programming skills with SQL, R and/or Python.

 

We are looking for a fast learner with a passion for leveraging analytics to extract clear understanding and actionable insights from large data sets. This individual should be comfortable and competent working with partners to understand business problems, work through data challenges, and to convey clear and compelling insights.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Enterprise Analytics to utilize data science tools and techniques within CMI
  • Analyze data and apply models, algorithms, and/or simulations to identify Customer Pain points and opportunities to optimize sales across digital Customer platforms
  • Leverage models and simulations to understand the expected performance of various marketing opportunities in order to inform investment trade-off decisions.
  • Build appropriate pipes to Extract, Transform, and Load data in support of analytic work
  • Perform statistical analysis to establish causal relationships between drivers and outcomes
  • Owns and is accountable for model and code quality and documentation for their work
  • Leverage pre-defined cloud computing resources and technology from a menu of options
  • Design and implement analytic workflows via Alteryx Apps or other patterned cloud-based deployment architectures
  • Develop and refine techniques used to measure digital engagement, conversion and trends for marketing efforts, including campaigns and ongoing programs
  • Use advanced Clustering techniques to identify Customer groups in order to become more targeted with our messaging and innovation
  • Lead CMI efforts to create a digital ordering recommendation engine to optimize check average and visit frequency for known Chick-fil-A Customers
  • Support efforts to operationalize models into the Customer experience

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, MIS, Marketing Research, Decision Sciences, Engineering, Business Analytics, Computer Science or other similar fields
  • Minimum GPA of 3.2
  • 2-4 years of experience working in Data Science
  • 3-5 years in a professional setting
    Strong skills in hypothesis generation, data identification, statistics and testing principles
  • Ability to turn insights into business use cases for innovation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Moderate programming skills in SQL, R and/or Python.
  • Ability to aggregate, standardize, interpret and model data, and to work independently within a data warehouse or decentralized environment
  • Keen eye for detail and for the thoughtful investigation of data prior to relying on it for analysis or modeling
  • Basic understanding of modern machine learning and its mathematical underpinnings.
  • Ability to maintain focus on the business context and key decisions to be made
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Basic knowledge of common statistical analysis methods (e.g., propensity, classification, text mining and sentiment analysis) and tools.
  • Familiarity with visualization methods and dashboard tools (e.g., Tableau)
  • Quick and versatile learner

  • Experience partnering well with cross-functional teams, being highly collaborative with ability to build strong relationships

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in a Quantitative or Technical Degree Program with a 3.2 GPA
  • 4-8 years of experience working in Data Science
  • Has some experience using the AWS big data technology stack
  • Has any experience developing machine learning or advanced statistical models in any context
